Secret Sauce For Lasting Fat Loss

------------------------------------------------------------
NEURAL FITNESS: THE SECRET SAUCE FOR LASTING PHAT LOSS
By Dr. Kareem Samhouri, CSCS, HFS (Dr. K)
Today we’re going to talk about motor learning and avoiding
the adaptation response to exercise, which is going to be
the difference between plateauing in your exercise program
and never plateauing again.
You see, you can’t just lose fat without building strength.
It doesn’t work that way. Muscle equals your metabolism. So,
if muscle equals your metabolism, then what are we to do
besides build a little bit of muscle to raise your
metabolism and shed that phat off?
Neural fitness is essentially the integration of your
nervous system into your fitness program. This is important
because your body speaks a language of electricity, and
unless you can speak to your CNS first, your central nervous
system first, there’s just no way that your body’s going to
respond in kind by building muscle as fast as it possibly
can.
You see, this all comes down to strategy. If you’re not
getting that part so far, let’s go back there for just a
moment. All signals start right here in your brain, come
down through your spinal cord and then exit through nerve
roots to each spinal level then continue to go down to your
extremities, your arms, legs. But, they start in your trunk.
So, that’s why we strengthen here, in your trunk first.
There’s no way your body’s going to learn movements as
effectively. In fact, those nerve signals can get blocked
and you’re not actually going to be spending time
effectively in the gym building muscle and burning phat.
It’s going to take longer and it’s going to be slower. Okay?
It’s not going to get you there, and eventually, it’s going
to plateau. That’s why motor learning is so important.
You see, if you learn how to perform movements by speaking
the language of your nervous system first, by starting here,
strengthening the trunk and then moving out to your
extremities, if you start there then you’re going to learn
movement more easily.
And when you learn movement more easily, you’re naturally
going to improve coordination. And if you improve
coordination, well, when you go to do that chest press, now
your body doesn’t have to guess, are you up here, are you
down there or are you straight away.
Because, when you’re straight away every time and you don’t
have to think about it and it’s like riding a bike, well now
you’re going to improve coordination and with improved
coordination you’re going to improve strength because your
body knows where to go.
And now it doesn’t have to think so hard about making sure
it’s in just the right place. Instead, it can dedicate 100%
of the power and 100% of that electricity to just turning on
that muscle, the muscle that you were targeting and the
strength that you’re trying to build.
So, again, by improving strength, what are we going to do?
We’re building muscle. And if we build muscle, we raise your
metabolism because muscle equals your metabolism. We just
talked about that. If you raise your metabolism, it’s just a
hop, skip and a jump away before YOU'RE GOING TO BURN PHAT
FASTER THAN ANYTHING YOU'VE EVER SEEN.
You see, the next point that’s really important though is
while you can learn all these movements, your body’s
constantly craving something called homeostasis or
equilibrium. That basically is a fancy way of saying, your
body really wants to achieve balance and not work that hard.
It’s set up to do the least work possible on each and every
occasion to produce the fastest movement execution it
possibly can.
So, in other words, trying to reduce thought process to be
able to take a step makes sense. Otherwise, each time you
take a step forward and backwards you’re going to be
thinking so hard you’re not going to be able to watch the
ditch or the pothole that’s underneath your foot, and that’s
where you trip and fall. Your body got really good at
solving this problem. And as such, it’s going adapt to your
exercise program.
So, it’s a little bit of a balance to create, as you can
see, between learning movements and not getting too good at
them, or your body no longer has to exert any sort of
muscular effort. That is what I want to call and term
adaptation response to exercise.
You see, you have to avoid this adaptation response to
exercise if you truly want to lose phat and you want to be
able to continue to do so in the future.
Keep your body guessing and you’re going to keep your
results coming. Avoiding adaptation response for optimal
results comes down to a simple premise:
If practiced movements create enhanced motor learning, and
building variety, helps you avoid adaptation response, then
foundational movements plus exercise variety equal more
strength, avoidance of adaptation response and faster, more
permanent results. That’s what this comes down to.
I’m tired of having to reinvent the wheel. I’m sure you are
too. You know, I remember the days when I was dieting way
too hard and trying all these things that were not
sustainable. They were temporary by pure nature, by pure
definition. They actually set me back because I always
thought of it as something that would be over soon, once I
hit my goal. That’s not what this is about.
This is about living lean. This is about feeling great, and
this is about embracing health from here on out, for the
rest of your life. You know, in order to be able to enhance
motor learning while building muscle and losing phat and
avoiding adaptation response, you have to lay down the
groundwork.
That’s the secret sauce in Double Edged Fat Loss. Double
Edged Fat Loss is about adding this kind of exercise
variety, teaching you how to improve motor learning and
reduce the opportunity for adaptation response.
This is about education, my friends. This is about your
life, my friends. And this is about changing you,
permanently, so that you are empowered with the ability to
be independent with your health and fitness goals for the
rest of your life. Have a great day.
